Hands-on Training and Planning Session
This session marks the national release of a comprehensive seaport security training system. The eight courses and over 500 lessons have been recently approved by the USCG, MARAD, and FEMA, and they are freely available in both instructor-led and Web-based formats. The "engine" behind the courses is a learning management system that enables users to securely create and maintain training records online for easy access and reporting. Workshop participants will learn about system components, how to gain access, and how to plan training for certification, professional development, performance drills, and individual performance improvement.

Over the years the Arctic has experienced change that will undoubtedly result in significant expansion of economic development and other activities in the region. This will in turn heighten the awareness and consequently need to address important environmental, safety, and security concerns. This executive brainstorming session will explore noteworthy impacts to the changing Arctic landscapes maritime community. Specifically it will build on concepts presented in the U.S. Coast Guard’s draft Arctic Strategic Plan to discover:
- What key stakeholders, agencies, organizations or partners (both domestic and international) have the capability and in some cases, responsibility to assist in accomplishing maritime safety, security and economic goals.
- How will these key stakeholders effectively collaborate, communicate and operate to support increasing activities in the Arctic.
- What are the anticipated threats and adversaries that these stakeholders should expect to confront in the Arctic and what methods will they employ.
- What are the keys to success and what strategy and policies need to be developed to achieve the security levels necessary?

Exclusive Site Tour of JAXPORT
The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) is an independent agency of the City of Jacksonville (FL). JAXPORT owns three cargo port terminals and one passenger cruise terminal along the St. Johns River in Northeast Florida. These facilities comprise approximately 1,500 acres of land and include the Blount Island Marine Terminal, the Talleyrand Marine Terminal, the Dames Point Marine Terminal, and the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal. Seaport activity at these facilities support more than 45,000 jobs in the Jacksonville area and creates an economic impact of more than $2.6 billion annually for the region. JAXPORT is a major diversified port: it is the nation's No. 1 port for trade with Puerto Rico by both volume and dollar value; it is the nation's second busiest automobile handling port, moving more than 600,000 cars, trucks and other vehicles annually; and it is the nation's 13th largest container port, moving the equivalent of nearly 800,000 twenty-foot cargo containers annually through its facilities. Port expansion now underway is projected to grow JAXPORT into the Eastern seaboard's third largest container port by 2015. This tour will visit JAXPORT’s Blount Island terminal and newly opened TraPac container terminal featuring state-of-the-art security enhancements and facilities.
